The Mahindra e2o has been spied again, testing with full camouflaged in heavy Bangalore traffic. The electric vehicle is on track to enter production next month.
The Mahindra e2o is a noble little car whose sales are restricted by the very virtues which make it special. The car is supposed to be a nimble little city run-about with just enough electric range for a trip to the office and back. But the same small size is now considered as cramped and tiny and the absence of a range extender induces the ugly feeling of range anxiety. Thus to overcome some of these problems and to add a dash of practicality to the vehicle, the company is busy testing a face-lifted four door version of the vehicle, which has been spied testing again in rush-hour Bangalore traffic.
The fully camouflaged Mahindra e2o has been spied testing near Electronic City Toll Signal, Electronic City, Bangalore by our beloved reader C Santhosh. The images reveal the four-door face-lifted e2o features revamped tail-lamps with LED fixtures, LED high mounted stop-lamp and new wheel covers. The 4-door e2o is expected to get the same interior as the current e2o, with a central infotainment screen, digital console, and the ‘App-Connect’ feature which will keep a tab on the electric car’s charge status, range and other features.
The blue colour of the car was visible under the camouflage and so was the slightly longer and maybe slightly wider dimension than the two door version. The vehicle is also slated to get reworked bumpers and a bigger battery to bump-up the current 120 kms range of the car. The dour door Mahindra e2o will cater to both domestic demand and international markets and is due for launch in the second half of October 2016.
Mahindra recently, in order to revamp the brand recognition value of the vehicle, dropped the ‘Reva’ tag from the name of the car, leaving it just as Mahindra e2o. In its current two door guise, the Mahindra e2o comes powered by a lithium-ion battery setup that makes 26 PS of power and 54 Nm of torque via an electric motor that drives the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. The Mahindra e2o two door is currently priced at Rs. 5.96 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
