The Mahindra e2o 4-door electric car has been spotted on test ahead of its launch which will happen in October itself.
The Mahindra e2o 4-door has been spied again. The automaker has been testing the e2o 4-door which is presently available in the Indian market in the 2-door form. The test mule was spied testing near Bangalore where Mahindra Electric (Earlier Mahindra REVA) has its base.
The test mule was spotted sporting a different front end with a smaller grille, chrome garnish and a new purple shade. The spy shots indicate an increased length to accommodate 2 more doors. It is expected to free up more room for passengers at the rear.
Consequently, it will make the car more suitable for families looking for an electric car as their daily driver. All the modern features from the current model like the touch screen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and air conditioning controlled via smartphone are expected to be carried over to the 4-door model.
The current model’s design language is expected to be more in line with the current range of Mahindra cars. Mahindra is also expected to upgrade the current electric powertrain ,which currently produces 25.5 HP of power and 53 Nm of torque with a larger battery pack to lug around the added weight. The motor allows has a decent range of 120 kms on full charge and a top speed of 81 km/hr on the 2-door model.
The car will also be eligible for subsidy under the FAME scheme of the central government. The demand for electric and hybrid cars is expected to surge in the coming years owing to tighter pollution norms and government crackdown on diesel cars. It will make the 4-door e2o an interesting proposition in the market.
