Mahindra 2-Wheelers has been testing its new mass market scooter that will be launched in the bread and butter 110cc automatic scooter segment. Codenamed G101, recent reports suggest that the new scooter will be christened as the ‘Zesto’ and will be competing with the likes of the TVS Scooty, Honda Activa-i, Hero Maestro and the likes in the segment. Mahindra continues to keep the ‘O’ tradition alive with the Zesto as well. From our exclusive uncamouflaged pictures we can see that the Mahindra Zesto gets an aggressive design language unlike the current scooters from the automaker.
The Mahindra Zesto gets headlamp cluster similar to the Honda Activa with a bold look, while the wraparound tail lights look chunky and bold. The scooter also gets an analogue instrument console in a semi circular design, while a small digital display has been added on the right hand corner. The overall design on the scooter is more of a unisex design and will favour both the sexes with ease, much like the TVS Jupiter. Mahindra will also provide the option of a glovebox on the Zesto scooter.
In terms of powertrain, the Mahindra Zesto will be powered by a new 110cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is likely to produce around 8 PS of power and 9 Nm of torque, paired to a variomatic transmission. Expect to see steel rims on the scooter, while the fuel efficiency is likely to be claimed at around 60 km/l. With the launch scheduled sometime next month, the Zesto is expected to undercut the competition by a significant margin, if the pricing of the Centuro is anything to go by.
