Mahindra has launched the B2 variant of the Bolero with a price tag of Rs. 7.64 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it the new entry-level variant of the multi-utility vehicle.
The price difference between the Bolero B2 variant and the B4 variant which sits above it is Rs. 36,000/-. With the addition of the new base variant, the number of trim levels available with the car rises to four and they are B2, B4, B6 and B6(O).
Being the entry-level trim, the Mahindra Bolero B2 price would get customers bare essentials such as power steering, manual AC, driver side airbag, ABS and rear parking sensors.
We expect Mahindra to reveal the full features list pretty soon, but features like remote locking, power windows, rear wash and wiper might be restricted to only the higher trim levels.
Powering the MUV is the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns 75 PS of top power and 210 Nm of maximum torque and it will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission which then sends power to the rear wheels.
Despite there being no direct rivals to the Bolero, we can peg the compact SUVs against it for they are similar price-wise. However, those eyeing to buy the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza or the Hyundai Venue might not even consider the Bolero.
But for those who need a no-nonsense, bare-bones utility vehicle that keeps chugging along like a loyal pet and does the job it is required to do, the Bolero might just about suit their bill pretty well.
