The launch date of the upcoming Mahindra flagship SUV has finally been confirmed. The Mahindra Alturas G4 will be launched on November 24, 2018. The SUV was previously scheduled for a November 19 launch. Bookings are open starting today.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 will be positioned above the XUV500. The SUV is based on the new generation Ssangyong Rexton and it is quite visible in the design of Mahindra Alturas. However, to keep it in the Mahindra family, the Alturas will get a familiar grill design, shared by most of the company’s SUV.
The Alturas gets a fresh new styling and mechanical changes. In terms of features, the Mahindra Alturas will get a touchscreen infotainment system, Napa leather upholstery and memory foam. It also gets premium equipment like a sunroof and an electronic parking brake.
The SUV will feature two variants, namely ‘G2’ and ‘G4’. The G2 version will feature 2WD while the G4 version will have 4WD along with top of the line equipment. In terms of engine, the Mahindra Alturas will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel motor producing 180.5 BHP and 450 Nm of torque.
This Mahindra will come equipped with a Mercedes sourced 7-speed automatic transmission and there will be no manual transmission on offer. The Alturas is based on a body-on-frame construction and comes with a 244 mm ground clearance along with a 5.5 metre turning circle.
The word ‘Alturas’ means height and the company certainly wants their new SUV to reach sky high to compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and Ford Endeavour.
