International motoring journalists are all praises for the quality of the Made in India BMW G310 GS.
When the TVS-BMW JV announced that the mass-market offerings like BMW G310R and G310 GS will be manufactured at TVS’ Hosur facility and exported to international markets, there was one question that everyone had in their minds. “Will TVS be able to make BMW quality motorcycles?”
TVS recently started exporting the Made-in-India BMW G310 GS to international markets and we’ve got our answers. These have been the responses of various motoring journalist firms. “Fit, finish and build quality, however, seem above par for its class,” says Canada Moto Guide. “Build quality and finish is excellent. This doesn’t look or feel like a cheap machine. This is no cheap machine with a BMW badge stuck on it. From the high-quality plastics to the deep finish on the steel trellis frame, it looks solid and well put together,” says Bennetts.co.uk. “BMW’s quality shows up all over the mill,” says TopSpeed.
Though there is a dedicated and sealed production area for the manufacturing of BMW motorcycles inside TVS’ Hosur plant where BMW’s officials are deputed in Chennai to supervise the entire process of assembling the motorcycles, etc., TVS’ effort to make the BMW motorcycles reliable and solid machines has to be applauded.
The Apache maker has understood the basic guidelines international manufacturers like BMW have, so it is likely that the future TVS badged motorcycles too will come with similar levels of quality.
Our wait for the G310R and G310 GS still continues, however, BMW has confirmed that the G310R will be launched sometime next year. Meanwhile, the G310R based TVS Apache RR 310S will be launched early next year.
