About a month ago, the all-new Citroen compact SUV was spotted while it was undergoing testing and once again a development mule of the car has been spied.
We have obtained pictures of the model on test courtesy of MotorBeamer Romit who snapped pictures of it on Chennai-Bengaluru highway.
Heavily camouflaged, the test mule does not give away much, but, we can see the headlight cluster, part of the grille and the front skid plate.
Also visible are the slightly flared wheel arches and the compact SUV does not seem to have large overhangs. Also, the test mule is running on steel wheels.
We can presume that it will get styling cues from global Citroen SUVs and also borrow features from them, for there is a race ongoing in the features department among carmakers right now.
Codenamed C21, the Citroen compact SUV spotted testing will be built on Groupe PSA’s CMP (EMP1) platform. It is using this platform that the carmaker plans to make its small EV for India as well.
To be launched after the C5 Aircross during the second half of the year 2021, possibly during the festive season, the sub-4-metre car will be the brand’s first made-in-India product.
There is no clue as to what engine is powering the development car, but we do know that Citroen has been assessing its 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that will find its way under the bonnet of the compact SUV.
Expect to hear more details about the compact SUV in the months to come as the French firm ramps up its testing regime.
