The low cost Mahindra Mojo variant has been spotted testing in Pune, comes with a single exhaust and thinner tyres.
Mahindra 2-Wheelers’ flagship motorcycle, the Mojo, has been spotted doing its test runs in Pune with inferior hardware. MotorBeam reader Shaan S G spotted the motorcycle which is expected to be priced around Rs. 20,000/- less than the current model.
The spotted Mahindra Mojo revealed no cosmetic changes. It features the same twin-pod headlamps, LED tail-lights and disc brake setup at both the ends. However, the test bike spotted here didn’t have dual exhaust mufflers. The low cost Mahindra Mojo variant will stick to a single exhaust muffler. It also runs on thinner 140 section rear tyre.
Powering the Mahindra Mojo is a 295cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that punches out 27 HP of power and 30 Nm of torque. The low cost variant is likely to be fed fuel by a carburettor with lower output numbers. The Mahindra Mojo comes with a 21-litre fuel tank capacity, digital speedometer while upside down forks and Pirelli tyres are likely to be skipped on the cheaper variant.
The Mahindra Mojo has no direct rivals but for the price, it is offered at, it competes with the KTM Duke 250, Royal Enfield Himalayan and Bajaj Dominar 400. Considering the taxes for the motorcycles below 350cc have been reduced under GST, the bike’s prices could fall by a slight margin. Expect Mahindra 2-Wheelers to price the cheaper Mojo variant at around Rs. 1.45 lakhs with the launch expected by November 2017. The current Mahindra Mojo is priced at Rs. 1.65 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the company plans to launch more variants of the Mojo including an adventure and cafe racer version.
