Tata will introduce an updated Tigor EV for private buyers.
Tata Motors is working to introduce an updated Tigor EV for private buyers which will run on a comparatively larger battery pack and offer a range of 200 kms.
Currently, the Tata Tigor EV is available only for fleet owners and government organisations as part of the EESL tender. As of now it uses a 16.2 kWh battery and offers a maximum range of 142 kms on a single charge. The 16.2 kWh battery powers a 3-phase AC induction motor that produces 40 PS of power and 105 Nm of peak torque.
The car takes about 90 minutes to charge up to 80% when plugged via a DC 15 kW fast charger. A standard AC charger takes about 6 hours for the same. Since the Tigor EV right now is only available for commercial usage, the top speed is restricted to 80 km/hr as per the norms set by the government.
Currently, the Tata Tigor EV is available in 3 variants – XE, XM, and XT. The XE variant is available for Rs. 11.58 lakhs while the XT is available for Rs. 11.92 lakhs after the government announced a reduction in GST rates on electric vehicles. This price reduction brought down the cost of Tigor EV by Rs. 80,000/-. However, with the additional FAME II subsidy, the Tigor EV XE is available at Rs. 9.96 lakhs while the range-topping variant XT is available at Rs. 10.30 lakhs. (all prices, ex-showroom).
