Not many may know Lohia Motors Limited (LML) today, but the two-wheeler manufacturer has been producing motorcycles and scooters since 1982 and has been a major exporter of two-wheelers to Europe. The UP based manufacturer announced today the launch of the new Star Euro 150 automatic scooter in India at a starting price of Rs. 54,014/-. The company claims that the LML Euro Star 150 is India’s first automatic scooter with a complete metal body.
The LML Star Euro 150 measures 1760 mm in length, 695 mm in width and 820 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1260 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm. The scooter gets a retro styling with a modern heart. LML has retained the design tones from the 80’s scooters with a modern and functional layout. The company has provided the scooter with extensive chrome detailing including the rear view mirrors on the front facia for a premium look and a contemporary design. The instrument cluster retains a retro appeal but is equipped with modern indicators like economy and power modes.
The Star Euro 150 uses a 150.82cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, vertical engine capable of producing 9.38 HP of power at 8200 RPM and is mated to a CVT gearbox. The scooter weighs in at 112 kgs, while the achievable top speed is 90 km/hr. LML has used a semi monocoque structure having pressed sheet metal in front and tubular frame in the rear for the Star Euro 150. Front and rear suspension duties are taken care by hydraulic dampers and helical springs while stopping power comes from a drum brake setup at the front and rear. A front disc brake setup is also provided as an option. The scooter comes with a 7-litre fuel tank and a claimed fuel efficiency of 55 km/l, giving it a range of 385 kms.
Other features on the LML Start Euro 150 include a body coloured grab rail, front glove compartment, engine kill switch and auto start function. LML is offering the Euro Star 150 in a variety of seven shades namely black gold, cipria red, éclair brown, glicine blue, lilac blue (purple), multi-shade and pearl white. The automatic scooter definitely offers a peppy colour palette for its customers. The Euro Star 150’s main rival is the Piaggio Vespa LX that also offers retro styling with a modern engine.
