Lexus GX 550 SUV revealed, based on TNGA-F platform
Lexus has revealed their new SUV GX and we love the rugged new design! It doesn’t look like a Lexus at the first glance. It is based on the TNGA-F platform which currently underpins the Lexus LX and Land Cruiser 300.
It has a sharp headlight cluster, fat grille up front and a muscular bonnet. It comes with black cladding around the lower half of the body with skid plates at the front and rear.
The wheel arches are huge and pronounced to lend it a rugged appeal. Even the wheels looks chunky with off-road friendly tyres and alloys. It looks huge and long from the side profile having a long hood and a tall upright body. The ORVMs look very similar to the ones seen on the Land Rover Defender. The rear profile gets a sleek tail light running across the width of the car and a well sculpted tailgate.
The interior gets an all-black theme. Of course Lexus will be offering a wide range of interior trim options to choose from. The dashboard gives us a hint of Toyota Land Cruiser 300. It comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Lexus GX is powered by a 3.4-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine producing 349 HP and 650 Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It comes with a 4WD system as standard.
Lexus might introduce more diesel and petrol options with the car in the future in the other international markets. While it is not confirmed yet by the Japanese carmaker, we believe Lexus might introduce the GX in India some time next year.
