Before the next generation Freelander bows in 2015, Land Rover will be launching the current generation Freelander with light upgrades for the 2015 model year as a last hurrah and it goes on sale in June in the UK. The Freelander will also get reshuffling in the trim options featuring a new three-variant lineup with the top-end HSE LUX variant replaced by the new range topping Metropolis edition, followed by the new SE and SE Tech models that replace the earlier GS and XS variants.
The top of the line Land Rover Freelander Metropolis edition comes with panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights with LED DRLs, reversing camera and 19-inch diamond-turned alloys. Step inside and the luxurious cabin is loaded with premium Windsor leather, electrically adjustable seats, touchscreen-controlled satellite navigation, an 825W meridian surround sound system, heated steering wheel, luxury carpet mats, gloss black interior detailing and premium metallic paint.
The Freelander SE variant sits below the Metropolis edition and is the base variant in the lineup. The SE variant gets a heated windscreen, front fog lights, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and the Design Pack combination of colour-matched bumpers and sills. Inside the cabin the SE variant features heated leather seats, front and rear centre armrests, climate control, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors and power-folding door mirrors.
The Freelander SE Tech variant on the other hand gets the feature list from the standard SE variant, but adds more gadgetry to the features list. The SE Tech variant adds automatic headlights and wipers, a 380W Meridian audio system, touchscreen-controlled navigation and 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. Land Rover will also offer the TD4 engine on the 2015 model year Freelander, mated to a manual transmission in the SE and SE Tech variants along with the SD4 engine option mated to an automatic transmission unit available across the lineup.
Land Rover will be hosting the launch event for the 2015 model year Freelander at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the UK. Prices for the Freelander SE variant start at 27,765 Pounds (Rs. 27.66 lakhs), while the Freelander Metropolis edition starts at Rs. 35,995 Pounds (Rs. 35.87 lakhs).
