The 2014 Land Rover Discovery facelift has been launched at the 2014 Auto Expo. The award-winning SUV made its public unveil at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September last year and has been sale in internationally. The capable SUV from Land Rover gets a slew of updates on the design and mechanical front giving it a fresh lease of life. Also gauging attention is the 2014 Range Rover Evoque with a 9-Speed transmission, the Range Rover Long Wheelbase edition and the F-Type Coupe that are also launched at the JLR pavilion.
Starting from the exterior updates, the 2014 Land Rover Discovery has been updated with a new grille and a redesigned front bumper. The re-worked headlight design now gets integrated Daytime running lights with LEDs. The most prominent change is the new ‘Discovery’ badge that replaces the Land Rover badging in front. The distinct style of the Discovery has been retained at the rear; however the name also loses the ‘4’ in the end, leaving just the Discovery name for the SUV. Land Rover has also added two new alloy wheels designs in the options range. The SUV will be available in SE and HSE trims.
The interiors have also been updated and receive a new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features. Land rover has introduced Wade Sensing (premiered on the Range Rover Sport), Blind Spot Manufacturing, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras. The 2014 Discovery is now available with the Meridian premium audio which features 17 speakers and an impressive output of 825 Watts. The SUV also gets intelligent Stop-Start system that aids in improved fuel economy by 11.4 percent.
The 2014 Discovery SE models will be offered with a four-wheel drive system equipped with a single-speed transfer box as standard. The new transfer box is much lighter and needs to be mechanically controlled and offers high and low range for the most demanding off-road conditions. The Discovery retains the 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine producing 256 PS of power, but has reduced CO2 emissions from 230 g/km to 213 g/km, a reduction of 9.5 percent than its predecessor. A new 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine which replaces the 5.0-litre V8 has been added to the lineup and is capable of producing 340 PS of power. All variants now get an eight-speed ZF transmission. The British manufacturer hasn’t revealed the prices as yet on the 2014 Discovery but plans to launch the updated Discovery later this year.
