Land Rover has commenced bookings for the Defender P400e plug-in hybrid off-roader in India.
The brand’s first plug-in hybrid for India will come with a combination of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 105 kW electric motor that, together develop 398 HP and 640 Nm.
This helps the Land Rover Defender P400e to accelerate from nought to 100 km/hr in 5.6 seconds and go on to hit a top speed of 209 km/hr. It has a 53 km claimed electric-only range.
Being a plug-in hybrid, the new Defender P400e has a 19.2 kWh battery pack which can be charged either using a 15A socket or a 7.4 kW AC wall box charger that will be supplied with the vehicle.
To be offered on the Defender 110 trim, the SUV will come in a total of 4 variants namely – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X, in India.
With the car’s bookings having begun, its launch, and subsequently deliveries to customers, is expected to happen in Q1 next financial year.
