Land Rover Freelander 2 S Business Edition Launched In India

Land Rover has silently introduced a cut price version of the Freelander 2, which is termed as Freelander 2 S Business Edition. Land Rover has priced it aggressively at Rs. 37.11 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around Rs. 2 lakhs cheaper than the mid SE trim. The manufacturer has managed a significant price cut by removing a few features. The Freelander 2 facelift was launched earlier this year with SE and HSE variants only but now the SUV has a total of three trim options – S, SE and HSE. The mechanical specifications remain unchanged.

The Land Rover Freelander 2 S Business Edition continues with the 4-cylinder, 2.2-litre TD4 diesel engine, seen on the SE trim that produces 150 PS of power at 4000 RPM with 420 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the range topping HSE trim gets the SD4 set of tune which produces 190 PS of power at 3500 RPM. The exterior omissions on the Business Edition includes front puddle lamps, sunroof and rear view camera, while the interiors get rid of front seat mounted arm rests and electric adjustment of front seats.

Instead of the 7-inch high resolution touch screen display with navigation system, the Freelander 2 S Business Edition comes with a basic 4.2-inch colour display with six Land Rover Audio (Not Meridian) speakers. There will be only four out of eight exterior colour options for the base S variant. It continues to be equipped with the Terrain Response four-wheel drive system. The Freelander 2 comes to India via the CKD route, being assembled locally at JLR’s facility in Chikhali near Pune. It is the only model from the Land Rover stable which is locally assembled in our country.
