The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a very snazzy and stylish vehicle that caters to the niche segment. This mini-SUV has been well received in India as well as other parts of the globe. Land Rover showcased the updated Range Rover Evoque at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 and this version of the Evoque is now on sale in India after being showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. It comes with a starting price of Rs. 55.28 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This updated Evoque comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission from ZF. Incidentally, ZF is the same company that produces the power steering motor for the Tata Nano!
The Range Rover Evoque came with a 6-speed transmission, which is being replaced by the ZF-9HP 9-speed version. This new transmission will be mated to the existing engines that already power the Evoque. The automaker has claimed that this transmission is 7.5 kgs lighter than the outgoing version. This new gearbox also has the ability to adapt to any type of driving style even while off-roading. Due to its lighter weight and intelligent shifts, the overall fuel efficiency has been improved. Land Rover has also equipped the Evoque with the new Active Driveline 4-wheel-drive system.
This system allows the vehicle to transmit power to each wheel individually hence improving traction while off-roading. To avoid understeer, the updated Evoque comes with Active Torque Biasing that uses an electronically controlled rear differential to split the force between each wheel to further improve grip and stability. Some other goodies that the 2014 Rage Rover Evoque gets are Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Forward Alert and Intelligent Emergency Braking, Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection Warning and Park Exit. This Park Exit system helps the vehicle get out of tight parking spots easily.
The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque also gets few new exterior colour options with new alloy wheels. The Evoque is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 237 BHP of power with 340 Nm of torque and 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 187 BHP of power with 420 Nm of torque. The Evoque is sold in two versions – 2-door coupe and 5-door.
