Land Rover Defender Octa does 0 to 100 km/hr in 4 seconds flat
Land Rover Defender Octa performance oriented SUV revealed. It will be available in the Indian market soon with a starting price of Rs. 2.65 crores. The Octa Edition One will be available for Rs. 2.85 crores (all prices, ex-showroom).
The exterior of the Defender Octa is designed to be bolder and tougher. Its ride height is raised and the stance is widened, with extended wheel arches for a more commanding presence. Redesigned bumpers improve approach and departure angles, while improved underbody protection ensures confidence over rough terrain. The Octa can wade through up to one meter of water, making it the most capable Defender in water fording.
The vehicle’s colour palette includes exclusive new premium metallic finishes – Petra Copper and Faroe Green along with Carpathian Grey and Charente Grey. All models feature a contrast roof and tailgate in gloss Narvik Black. Customers can further personalise their vehicle with optional Matte Protective Film.
Inside, the Defender Octa offers a blend of luxury and durability. Two highly durable Ultrafabrics PU options are available, 30 percent lighter than traditional leather. The interior options include a duo-tone Khaki and Ebony finish with a knit textile and seamless finish. Additionally, the standard interior features a new Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather with Kvadrat textile trim in Ebony.
The front row of the Defender Octa features all-new Performance Seats with supportive bolsters and integrated headrests. The vehicle also introduces Body and Soul Seat audio technology, developed in collaboration with SUBPAC and Coventry University, allowing occupants to feel as well as hear the music. Six wellness programs are available to help relax or improve cognitive responses on the move.
The Land Rover Defender Octa is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild hybrid engine that produces 635 PS and up to 800 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It does 0-100 km/hr in 4 seconds flat.
The Defender Octa stands out with its heavily revised chassis components and innovative technologies, including the 6D Dynamics suspension system. These features elevate its dynamic capabilities. The suspension system is coupled with hydraulically-interlinked continuously variable semi-active dampers.
The vehicle’s design has been optimised for optimum ground clearance and stability. It sits 28 mm higher and has a stance widened by 68 mm, which, combined with revised suspension components, offers maximum wheel articulation off-road and reduced roll on-road. The OCTA also features 400 mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers and the fastest steering ratio of any Defender to date.
