Land Rover Celebrates 65th Anniversary With Defender LXV Special Edition

30th April is a very special day for the British automaker, Land Rover, which turns 65 this year. Land Rover celebrated its 65th anniversary at Packington Estate, which was the testing ground for its prototype models till early 70’s. Around 150 heritage Land Rovers were showcased at the event and amongst those, the automaker unveiled the Defender LXV Special Edition to celebrate the big milestone achieved. ‘LXV’ is the Roman numeral for 65 and the special edition Defender is based on the regular Defender Hard Top model.

The Land Rover Defender LXV comes equipped with the same 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 120 BHP of maximum power with 360 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and is claimed to tackle the most difficult terrains in the world. The Defender LXV special edition model gets treated with a Santorini Black paint job in contrast with Corris Grey painted roof, grille, headlight surrounds and facia. The Defender LXV variant also boasts 16-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels, LXV badges and a union flag decal on the tail gate to indicate about something special coming your way.

The Defender LXV special edition gets special treatment on the interiors too, featuring full leather seats with “LXV” embossed front headrests and unique orange contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and center armrest. The Land Rover Defender LXV special edition comes with a starting price of £28,765 (Rs. 24 lakhs) in the UK. Land Rover India will also celebrate the 65th anniversary launching ‘Land Rover Experience’ customer events throughout India. The first event will take place in Amby Valley, Lonavala on the 3rd May, where customers get to experience Land Rover’s all-terrain capabilities.
