Lamborghini Urus SE launched in India with a plug-in hybrid powertrain
Lamborghini Urus SE launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 4.57 crores (ex-showroom). The Urus SE replaces the Performante and S variants, bringing with it a host of enhancements in powertrain, design and technology.
The Urus SE is powered by a re-engineered 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, now integrated with a plug-in hybrid system. This powertrain delivers a combined output of 800 HP and 950 Nm of torque. The V8 engine alone contributes 620 HP and 800 Nm, while the plug-in hybrid system, featuring a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery, adds a further boost to the SUV’s performance. The electric motor is housed within the 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, a configuration similar to that of the Lamborghini Revuelto.
In terms of performance, the Urus SE is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/hr in just 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 312 km/hr. The SUV also offers an electric-only range of 60 km and can operate in EV mode at speeds of up to 130 km/hr before the combustion engine engages.
Lamborghini has equipped the Urus SE with an extensive range of driving modes to suit various driving conditions. In addition to the familiar Strada, Sport and Corsa modes for road and track use and Neve, Sabbia and Terra modes for off-road driving, the Urus SE introduces four new modes: EV Drive, Hybrid, Recharge and Performance. The Recharge mode is particularly noteworthy, allowing the battery to recharge up to 80 percent while maintaining optimal performance.
The Urus SE is built on a suspension system that includes air suspension, an electronic limited-slip rear differential and 48V anti-roll bars. These features work together to manage the vehicle’s dynamics, including pitch, yaw and lean, ensuring a balanced and controlled ride across various terrains.
While the overall design of the Urus SE remains in line with its predecessors, Lamborghini has introduced several key updates. The front end features a new bonnet that extends to the edge of the nose, creating a more seamless look. The headlamps are slimmer and now incorporate LED matrix technology, departing from Lamborghini’s traditional Y-motif lighting signature. The front bumper and grille have also been redesigned to appear more aggressive and prominent.
At the rear, the Urus SE sports a new spoiler and tailgate design, with a contrasting trim that connects the Y-shaped LED tail-lights. The registration plate has been relocated to the bumper and the diffuser is now larger and more visually striking. The SUV is available with redesigned wheels in 21-, 22- or 23-inch sizes, fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Inside, the Urus SE’s cabin has received several updates. The dashboard now features more three-dimensional panels, revised AC vents and new seat designs. A significant upgrade is the larger 12.3-inch central touchscreen, which replaces the previous 10.1-inch unit and runs the latest software and user interface, similar to that found in the Revuelto. Lamborghini continues to offer extensive customisation options, with over 100 exterior colours, 47 interior finishes and the Ad Personam program for personalised touches.
