The Italian sports car manufacturer, Lamborghini had showcased its performance oriented SUV concept, the Urus at the Beijing Motor Show last year. The Urus concept was the showstopper at the Beijing show boasting of stunning design blend of an SUV and a super car retaining Lamborghini’s DNA of speed and aggression. The Lamborghini Urus SUV still needs an official green signal from its parent company, the Volkswagen Group to get into production, but that could happen soon.
Lamborghini has recently filed a patent in China regarding the design of the Urus. This step takes Lamborghini a little closer to getting the Urus into production. The patent drawings of the Urus submitted in China have been leaked by the Chinese media and the drawings look exactly the same as the concept showcased at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. It is expected that the Lamborghini Urus will be powered by a V10 petrol unit churning out more than 600 BHP of power output.
The super SUV is likely to be underpinned by the platform shared by the soon to be introduced Bentley EXP-9F, next generation Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. The SUV will be using carbon fibre materials extensively in order to keep the weight of the SUV light. If the Lamborghini Urus manages to get into production, it will come out with a hefty premium price tag. Lets hope Lamborghini comes out well with the super SUV in terms of styling, performance and pricing. The vehicle will be a hyper SUV and will compete with the new Range Rover.
