Lamborghini has set a mammoth price tag for the Huracan STO
Lamborghini has launched the Huracan STO with a price tag of Rs. 4.99 crores (ex-showroom), today in India.
The supercar, which Lamborghini says is inspired by the Huracan GT3 EVO and Super Trofeo EVO, is powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 that puts out 640 HP and 565 Nm of torque.
A 7-speed DCT send the engine’s power to the rear wheels of the car whose acceleration times are quite impressive, for, it does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 3 seconds flat and 0-200 km/hr in 9 seconds.
While its 310 km/hr top speed is well and good, its stopping times are mega. Since it has CCM-R brakes and because it weighs 1339 kg (dry), the supercar can brake from 200 km/hr to nought in just 110 metres and from 100 km/hr to 0 in 30 metres.
To keep the weight of the Huracan STO down, Lamborghini has used plentiful carbon-fibre parts and magnesium rims. However, to aid handling, the trackwidth has been increased, while stiffer suspension bushing and model-specific anti-roll bars have been used.
Sporting MagneRide 2.0 suspension, the Huracan STO gets rear-wheel steering and 3 new drive modes – STO (road), Trofeo (Track) and Pioggia (Rain) that work with Lamborghini Veicolo Dinamica Integrata (LDVI) vehicle dynamics system.
As impressive as all the tech may be, they are overshadowed by the stunning exterior of the Huracan STO which has been sculpted for track use.
Every aspect of the supercar has been designed for aerodynamic efficiency. For example, the front bumper, fenders and frunk are now a single component.
There are new air ducts on the front boot lid to increase downforce, the underbody of the car is all new, as is the diffuser, while the rear fender has been shaped to reduce drag.
Of course, one cannot miss the air scoop, the big rear wing (manually adjustable), and the additional air intakes and cooling ducts dotted all over the car.
On the inside, the supercar features extensive use of carbon-fibre. The seats, door panels and even the floormats are made from the material while Alcantara has been used for upholstering the interior.
What’s more Lamborghini has also fitted the Huracan STO with a roll bar, a fully-connected telemetry system and the frunk has been redesigned to store helmets.
