KTM Aims To Double Volumes In 2 Years

KTM RC 125 Specifications

KTM has grown its volume by 35% in the first 5 months of the current financial year.

The Duke 125 and RC 125 account for 40% of the company’s total sales

KTM, which is partly owned by Bajaj is very optimistic about its positioning in India. The company hit 50,000 units in the last year, and are hopeful to sell 65,000 units this year. Although the overall 2-wheeler market has seen a 15% decline, KTM is on a rise.

With the Duke 125 and RC 125, which account for 40% of the company’s total sales, and the launch of the all-new Duke 790, they’ve been able to attract new customers. Even the tier 2, 3 cities have brought in a lot of demand. The company believes that such a wide array of products would help the brand to enter from all sides – entry-level sports bikes to premium superbikes. Since the company already has an expanding network with good after-sales and services, they hope to tap the market.

The company is all geared up to bring its Husqvarna brand as well. In the next 3-6 months, along with an expansion in their customer base, they may also bring Adventure Touring bikes following the new brand’s launch.

Globally, the Indian business unit will also take on its shoulder the responsibility of markets in Indonesia, Africa and South Asia. Although, they will not apply the Indian strategy on these markets. Instead, they would do some exploration to alter the strategies to best suit the needs of the respective markets.

With the expanded portfolio, KTM is aiming to get the number one position in the premium sports bike. Owning an exuberant portfolio of 8 bikes and multiple others to come, India accounted for a quarter of KTM’s global sales in the last financial year.
