The most awaited launches in the performance two-wheeler segment this year, the RC 200 and RC 390 will surely take their respective segments by storm on arrival. Now, Shardul Shinde MGz snapped a non camouflaged test mule of the KTM RC 390 that was spotted testing as the launch scheduled in July comes closer. We also have confirmed information that KTM will first launch the RC 390 in the country, while the RC 200 will be launched after a couple of months, towards the festive season. The company has already dispatched the initial batch of RC models to Austria for the international media ride that has been planned for June.
The KTM RC 390 shares its mechanicals with sibling Duke 390 and is powered by the same 373.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 43.5 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. The bike features a full faired design giving the RC 390 a completely new identity and also boasts of a higher top speed at around 175 km/hr, courtesy of the aerodynamic full fairing. There have been no changes done to the gearing of the motorcycle but revisions have been made to the powertrain to prevent overheating.
Much like the Duke 390, the RC 390 will also be riding on Metzeler tyres, while stopping power comes from a 300 mm disc brake at the front and a 230 mm disc brake setup at the rear, working in sync with ABS which is offered as standard. Expected to be priced at around Rs. 2.40 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai), the RC 390 is surely here to paint the city orange. The closest rival to the KTM RC 390 would be the Kawasaki Ninja 300 while the upcoming Honda CBR300R will also put up a fight against this Austrian pocket-rocket.
