By far one of the most anticipated performance two-wheelers of the year, the countdown has finally begun for the launch of the KTM RC 200 and RC 390 in India. As per the KTM RC 390 – India’s facebook fan page, the Indian dealer preview for the performance bikes will be held next month in Pune. The page further reports that KTM has invited the Indian dealers via an email and will start the sales training program for the RC twins from 29th August across the country. The launch can be expected sometime in September.
The KTM RC 200 and RC 390 have been spotted testing on a number of occasions across the country. The full-faired version of the Duke 200 and 390 street-fighter motorcycles, the RC twins offers a sportier riding stance, completely new looks and is expected to be a track scorcher with overwhelming riding dynamics from the same trellis frame. Competing against the Honda CBR300R, Mahindra Mojo 300, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the likes in the segment, the performance bikes will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Pune alongside the Duke siblings for domestic as well as international markets.
KTM is most likely to launch the RC 200 first, while the RC 390 will come in later. The RC 200 uses the 199.5cc 4-valve, single-cylinder engine (from the Duke 200) and belts out 25 PS of power and 19.2 Nm of torque. The KTM RC 390 on the other hand uses a 373.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the Duke 390 that produces 43.5 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. Both the bikes come with a 6-speed transmission. The KTM RC 200 is expected to be competitively priced at around Rs. 1.80 lakhs, while the RC 390 will be priced at around Rs. 2.40 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).
