KTM Industries AG (now called Pierer Mobility AG) has announced the purchase of 60% stakes in Spanish brand GasGas and will use the company’s dealer network to expand its reach into the Spanish market. Sprouting from this merger are 3 new motorcycles to be developed by GasGas. It is speculated that the bikes will be based on KTM’s existing products.
The 3 new models will include 2 roadsters and 1 road-biased adventure tourer. The entry-level roadster model from GasGas will slot in the 250cc segment and might be based on the Duke 250. There will also be an 800 series, likely to be based on the KTM 790 series.
The engine specifications should be identical to the KTM motorcycles including the DOHC, liquid-cooled, 4-valve per cylinder setup. The performance numbers of the quarter-litre model’s engine will be about 31 PS and 24 Nm. The 800 series’ engine, on the other hand, should deliver approximately 105 PS and 87 Nm from its parallel-twin mill.
Coming to the hardware on the motorcycles, it will include inverted front forks, a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock and disc brakes on both wheels along with dual-channel ABS.
