KTM dealerships have started teasing the launch of Duke 790 in India.
KTM has not yet confirmed the launch of Duke 790 for the domestic market. According to some KTM dealers, the KTM Duke 790 will be launching in India by December this year. A KTM dealership in Pune has teased that the KTM Duke 790 is coming soon in India.
We can expect that the KTM Duke 790 will be available to us via CKD route along with some locally produced parts. The parts like engine, chassis and suspension are expected to be imported from Austria. While the alloy wheels, tyres, lights, body panels, wiring harness, handlebar and mirrors will be made locally.
The KTM Duke 790 will get traction control system, launch control along with multiple riding modes. The Duke 790 will be powered by a 799cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 103.5 BHP and 86 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission with a standard PASC slipper clutch.
The Duke 790 is expected to be priced at Rs. 6 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) which makes it compete against the Suzuki GSX-S750, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821 and the Triumph Street Triple S. All these motorcycles are priced between Rs. 7.5 lakhs to Rs. 9.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
