Dealers have confirmed to MotorBeam that the bike will be made available in India this fiscal year.
KTM, with its strong hold on the naked motorcycle segment, will be adding another new motorcycle to its already colourful portfolio. In a confirmation made to MotorBeam by KTM dealers, the much-awaited Duke 790 will be coming to the Indian market in this fiscal year.
The bike, which is characterised by sharp lines, will be powered by a 799cc, LC8c parallel twin motor resting on a steel tubular frame. It will produce a maximum power of 103.5 BHP and torque of 86 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and a slipper clutch. Suspension duties for the Duke 790 is taken care of by a 43 mm upside down fork and a monoshock rear. It has a ground clearance of 186 mm and a seat height of 825 mm. The bike can achieve a top speed of 220 km/h.
The Duke 790 also comes with multiple driving modes. You can choose between the Sport mode, Street mode, Rain mode and the Track mode. The performance is accordingly varied between the four modes when activated. The bike also has added to it traction control and launch control. The Duke 790 also comes with LED DRLs and a TFT-LCD instrument cluster.
The bike weighs in at 169 kgs, and will be made available in India via CKD route. It is likely to be assembled at the company’s facility in Pune. Its competition will be against the Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple, Ducati Monster 821 and Suzuki GSX-S750.
