KTM Duke 390 Launch Confirmed For March 2013

Bajaj Auto has recently confirmed that they will introduce the KTM Duke 390 in the month of March this year. KTM unveiled the street bike at the 2012 EICMA show in Milan last year. The KTM Duke 390 is an upgraded and a sportier version of the KTM Duke 200 providing stronger performance. The KTM Duke 390 will be powered by a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder 373.2cc fuel injected engine with a DOHC layout. The engine is expected to produce a maximum power output of 44 PS at 9,500 RPM and 35 Nm of maximum torque at 7,250 RPM mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The engine sits on a light weight tubular space frame made from chrome molybdenum steel and features a three-chamber silencer along with a light-alloy swing arm making the motorcycle agile. The Duke 390 weighs just 150 kgs (fully fueled) providing an impressive power to weight ratio of 316 PS per tonne. The KTM 390 Duke will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant. The company has recently increased the price of the KTM Duke 200 by Rs. 8,000/- per unit and it currently costs Rs. 1,30,219/- (ex-showroom Delhi)

The Duke 390 comes with ABS as standard in the international market, we expect Bajaj Auto to offer ABS in India as well. Most of the styling elements and parts are shared with the Duke 200, so we expect the pricing to be very competitive. The form factor of both the Duke 390 as well as Duke 200 is the same with different body graphics and lower seat position seen on the Duke 390. The KTM Duke 390 is will hit the Bajaj’s KTM showrooms during March with an expected price of Rs. 2,00,000/-.
