Colours seem to be very important in today’s day and age and that is why we see Yamaha and Honda continuously playing with the palette. After developing a fantastic bike, you don’t have much to do for a new year and hence colours is the obvious answer. That is what KTM has done, earlier with the Duke 200 and now with the Duke 390. KTM has added a new colour to the Duke 390 for 2014, which is the highly awaited black colour. The same isn’t available in India yet but should be offered very soon, maybe with a small price hike.
The black colour on the KTM Duke 390 looks quite cool although we like the white as well. However KTM needs to explore more shade options because the bike looking identical to the Duke 200 and Duke 125 which does rob off the special feeling you expect from a performance machine such as this. The rest of the motorcycle retains the same colours, you get orange coloured frame and wheels which give the 390 that stand out appearance against its younger siblings which get black finishing instead.
Powering the KTM Duke 390 is a 373.2cc powerplant which produces a stupendous 43 HP of juicy horses and 35 Nm of turning force. Armed with the best bit of hardware, the Duke 390 is not only fast but ferocious too. At Rs. 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom), there simply isn’t anything which can match the level of fun this KTM offers at this price point. The Austrian company has stated deliveries in full swing and has resolved the starter and heating issues, which were both Indian specific problems.
