The KTM Duke 250 has been spotted with LED headlight seemingly borrowed from its bigger sibling, the Duke 390. Until now, the 250cc Duke was sold with a traditional halogen lamp that also had LED daytime running lights.
Thus, the Duke 250 headlight unit with its sharp and angular look, with a thin plastic strip separating them, is the same as the Duke 390 and in line with KTM’s design language.
In European markets, the entire Duke range, including the entry-level 125cc model gets the full LED headlight. Offering premium features on lower capacity bikes is always a welcome move.
Dealers have already started receiving the quarter-litre motorcycle now, but the launch date of the updated version is yet unknown. However, we expect it to happen very soon, that too with a small hike in the retail price of the motorcycle.
Otherwise the KTM Duke 250 LED headlight version does not sport any mechanical or other cosmetic changes. So, the bike is still powered by the 248.8cc, single cylinder engine that produces 30 BHP of peak and 24 Nm of torque.
While KTM is working on providing the LED headlight on the 250cc bike, we would also like to see the instrument console get changed. But the pictures suggest that is not happening, not now.
Thus, the simple digital console, steel trellis frame, WP suspension front and back, ByBre brakes with the switchable Bosch dual-channel ABS are all expected to be offered unchanged.
It is retailed at just over Rs. 2 lakhs (ex-showroom) at present, priced considerably cheaper than the KTM Duke 390 that is sold at Rs. 2.57 lakhs (ex-showroom).
