If you have been long awaiting an adventure model based on the Duke, we must ask you to sit down first. KTM has denied the recent online reports that suggested of any development of a 390 Adventure entry-level tourer motorcycle that would be launched next year and was rumoured to be unveiled at the EICMA in Milan later this year. Answering the query issued by AdvPulse.com, the Austrian manufacturer responded stating that such a model is not foreseen by the company that would be based on the Duke platform.
Apparently, speculations surfaced online that KTM was working on an Adventure model based on the Duke platform and would be powered by the same 373cc single-cylinder engine. However, KTM clarified that the Duke platform has been designed to spawn naked and supersport models but a tourer would require a completely different package altogether and the Duke platform could not provide with the same. The manufacturer however, did not rule out the possibility of an entry-level adventure tourer but it was not on the cards for KTM in the short term.
Nonetheless, the sheer excitement created by the speculation should give enough confidence to KTM to create a 390 Adventure motorcycle, considering the firm now knows that there is a demand for such models across the globe. The middle-weight 400cc segment does not have many Adventure bikes and clearly, there is enough space for KTM to bring in its own model to kick start the segment. Currently, the manufacturer is concentrating on launching the RC 200 and 390 in India based on the Duke platform, both will be launched on 9th September in the country.
