This festive season you may be able to go on an adventure with the launch of the new KTM 790 Adventure.
With the anticipatory launch of the 790 Adventure by the festive season, the KTM 390 Adventure’s launch would be put on hold. The adventure series bike will be brought to the country via the CKD route, just like the Duke 790. It will follow the Duke 790 and will be a flagship offering by the Austrian brand in India. Mechanical and cycle parts are anticipated to be imported, but parts like levers and panels are expected to be locally sourced.
The 790 Adventure shares the engine with the Duke 790 which has an LC8c 799cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 93 BHP and 88 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an optional two-way quick-shifter and slipper clutch. The 790 Adventure sits on 43 mm WP USD forks at the front with up to 200 mm of travel and a WP mono shock with 200 mm travel at the rear. It also comes with cornering ABS, off-road ABS, traction control, rally mode and even cruise control.
The motorcycle is expected to compete with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Suzuki V-Strom 650, Triumph Tiger 800 and the Ducati Multistrada in the Indian market. It will be priced around Rs. 8.5 lakhs mark and will be assembled at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan factory.
