The KTM 390 Adventure wasn’t showcased at the EICMA 2018 which was a shocker for many enthusiasts.
The 390 Adventure was not planned to be featured at the EICMA 2018, as we had thought. And this comes to us in a sad light because the timing of the release made by KTM was days before BMW Motorrad G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS were finally launched in India, which got our hopes up because KTM has been a real favourite of the Indian rider.
But the spyshots of the KTM 390 Adventure which were captured a few days after the release of the statement indicated that it will be an off-road entry bike for the company. To make this venture a success, it was also announced that the 390 Adventure will have long suspension and new wheel sizes.
While the bike takes inspiration from the Duke 390, there are clear distinctions between the two. The trellis frame, for example, isn’t as exposed as in the Duke. The fuel tank is considerably larger to prolong the rider’s off-road cravings. The seats appear more comfortable and the side-mounted exhaust are also major changes from the Duke.
KTM showcased the new 790 Adventure at the EICMA 2018 but they had no statement to make about the 790 motorcycles hitting the Indian market. All we know for sure is that Bajaj Auto and KTM are in discussion and understanding the background work that needs to be put in before introducing new products in the delicate Indian market.
While there is speculation that the 790s will be launched first in February and then the 790 Adventure (who’s launch date is uncertain), no official final comment has been made about the same.
