KTM’s new Adventure lineup blends power, tech and accessibility for off-road touring

KTM has just launched the 250 Adventure, 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X, priced from Rs. 2.60 lakhs (ex-showroom). These motorcycles are meant to tackle the wilderness using the latest 399cc and 250cc engines. Although their new generation bears a resemblance to the previous generation, mechanically, the difference is night and day.

The Changes

It is important to note that the 399cc LC4C engines, the main frame, and the subframe are the only things common in the 390 Adventure and Adventure X when you compare them with the 390 Duke. The engine produces 46 HP and 39 Nm of torque. The most noticeable difference is the addition of the 830 mm seat height which is 25 mm less than the previous generation.

This height difference will make the ADV more accessible to a larger group that is shorter. Surprisingly the ground clearance has still increased to 227 mm (200 mm previously).
The latest 390 Adventure is also able to deliver greater suspension which is 200 mm at the front and 205 mm at the rear.

There is also the addition of the 21/17-inch spoked tubeless rims as opposed to the 19/17-inch tubed spoked rims. This addition means that riders are able to enjoy the look of the ADV without the hassle of handling a tubed tyre. The braking duties are performed by 320 mm discs at the front and 240 mm discs in the rear. As compared to the previous generation, the 2025 Adventure is 6 kg lighter but has the same 14.5 litre fuel tank.

KTM 390 Adventure

The 390 Adventure features comprehensive riding aids that make it a competent adventure tourer. The 390 Adventure is offered with three riding modes i.e. Offroad, Street and Rain, tailored to self-explanatory scenarios.

In terms of features, the bike offers switchable cornering ABS, a bidirectional Quickshifter, cornering traction control, motorcycle traction and cruise control. The latter is a first on a sub 500cc bike in India! The 390 Adventure is the most expensive of the lineup priced at Rs. 3.67 lakhs (ex-showroom).

KTM 390 Adventure X

The Adventure also has a marginally budget-friendly and road-centric option, the 390 Adventure X. This model offers 19/17-inch alloy wheels with non-adjustable suspension. However, the suspension travel is still the same as the non-X variant.

The X also shares the same ground clearance and fuel capacity as the 390 Adventure. The 390 Adventure X is priced at Rs. 2.91 lakhs (ex-showroom). The difference is a lower seat height of 825 mm and a weight difference of 1 kg as compared to the 390 Adventure, being 182 kg.

KTM 250 Adventure

The 399cc engines which are in the Adventure lineup are bound to get the most attention. However, the KTM 250 Adventure deserves mentioning as it is the most affordable ADV in the lineup priced at Rs. 2.59 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is built on the same platform as its larger siblings with a potent 250cc single-cylinder engine that produces 29.63 HP and 24 Nm of torque.

It offers long travel suspension (with non-adjustability) and a Low Seat Height of 825mm just like the Adventure X. This bike also gets electronic aids like Ride-By-Wire, Off Road ABS and Quickshifter. The 5-inch TFT display is also capable of Turn-By-Turn Navigation. However, just like the rest of the adventure lineup, this also gets cruise control which adds versatility into the equation.

Outlook

The 250 Adventure, 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X will be offered in two colours i.e. Orange and White, aligning them with the Austrian brand’s corporate identity. With competitive pricing and aggressive design, these adventure tourers are poised to take on the wilderness in style!
