KTM 1390 Super Duke R looks like a monster with the new design direction
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has revealed the highly anticipated 1390 Super Duke R, a successor to the formidable 1290 Super Duke. This big-fat naked bike embodies the quintessential KTM streetfighter look, boasting a powerful engine, distinctive design elements and new features that set it apart.
At the heart of the 1390 Super Duke R lies a newly developed LC8 1350cc, 2-cylinder engine that produces 188 BHP and 145 Nm of torque. This powerhouse is mated to a 6-speed gearbox through a slipper clutch.
The aesthetic appeal of the 1390 Super Duke R is hard to ignore, featuring dual LED headlamps with distinctive V-shaped LED daytime running lights flanking each side. Aggressive tank extensions and a stepped seat add to its muscular presence.
Weighing in at 200 kg, the Super Duke R maintains a nimble yet robust build. The Chrome-moly tubular space frame provides the necessary rigidity, while the larger 17.5-litre fuel tank ensures an extended range for those long rides. The bike’s suspension system includes an upside-down front fork with 125 mm of travel and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual 320 mm discs featuring Brembo Stylema calipers at the front and a single 240 mm disc with a 2-piston caliper at the rear.
The 1390 Super Duke R comes packed with features like multiple riding modes, lean-sensitive traction control system, digital instrument console, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), etc.
