Joining its range of high-end Adventure motorcycles, KTM has unveiled the 2015 1290 Super Adventure that will make its world premiere at the upcoming INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany on 30th September 2014. The new 1290 Super Adventure shares its underpinnings with the 1190 Adventure R and will be positioned alongside the latter when it goes on sale next year. KTM is tight-lipped about the details on the 1290 Super Adventure and apart from its engine size; there is not much that we know about the motorcycle coming from the Austrian manufacturer.
Nonetheless, KTM has stated that the new 1290 Super Adventure will get a incredibly large fuel tank for an extended range, while the motorcycle will be equipped with absolute unique electronically supported riding assistance equipment. The company has announced that the equipment list will include Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system along with ABS and traction control system with a range of presets that have been developed in collaboration with KTM’s technical partner Bosch.
The new range topping KTM 1290 Super Adventure will be powered by the same 1301cc V-twin engine from the 1290 Super Duke R and is expected to produce around 180 HP of power, paired to a 6-speed transmission. Aesthetically, the 1290 Super Adventure is not radically different from the 1190 Adventure and it will take a trained eye to point the changes. We however, expect KTM to give the new flagship Adventure tourer new livery for better differentiation between the bikes. KTM will announce further details of the new 1290 Super Adventure next month.
