Koenigsegg Regera has clocked 0-400-0 km/hr in 31.49 seconds.
The Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg seems to love breaking world records. As a result, we find them breaking the same 0-400-0 km/hr record yet again, which they have already broken twice.
This record was first broken by Bugatti, in 2017 at the Ehra-Lessien high-speed oval. A Chiron driven by racing driver Juan Pablo Montoya recorded 0-400-0 km/hr in just 41.96 seconds. This record was very short-lived, as just a few weeks after, Bugatti announced the record at the 2017 IAA show in Frankfurt. Koenigsegg smashed the record with a customer’s Agera RS.
Factory test driver, Niklas Lilja gunned the Agera RS, from 0-400-0 km/hr in just 36.44 seconds. The record took place at the Danish airbase in Vandel, Denmark. Koenigsegg shaved off 5.56 seconds from Bugatti’s record. However, at the time of breaking the production car speed record, at the Nevada State Route 160, Niklas fared to trim the 0-400-0 km/hr record by another 3.15 seconds and set the new record at 33.29 seconds.
Fast forward to September 2019, a Regera is driven by factory test driver, Sonny Persson, who broke the 0-400-0 km/hr record by recording a time of 31.49 seconds at the Rada military airfield, near the town of Lidkoping. This is the third time, Koenigsegg breaking the same record. But, there is more to the story this time as the company mentions that a couple of new records have also been broken that we expect Koenigsegg to release soon.
It is likely that Koenigsegg will break the recently set production car speed record, that the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, recorded with a top speed of 490.484 km/hr.
The Koenigsegg Regera is powered by a 5.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine which is paired to a hybrid system. It has 3 electric motors with a combined power output of 1500 PS of power. This engine is paired to a single-speed transmission which transfers this massive power to the rear wheels.
