Koenigsegg will be unveiling two new cars at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Agera RS and Regera, the former being a hotter version of the Agera, while the latter is a hybrid.
Supercars. We all love them. And with lots and lots of supercars around, some brands have taken cars to the new level and have come up with hypercars! Brands like Ferrari, McLaren and Koenigsegg have been making hypercars since some time now. After the introduction of hybrid hypercars from Ferrari and McLaren recently, Koenigsegg didn’t want to be left out in the game and will be unveiling its first hybrid behemoth called the Regera. Along with the Regera, the hypercar maker will be launching the Agera RS which will replace the Agera R in the Swedish automaker’s lineup.
The Agera RS was clicked at Koenigsegg’s stand at the Geneva Motor Show by one of the first visitors. Based on the Agera platform, the Agera RS gets an updated aero-kit which is strikingly similar to its elder brother, the One:1. The monster is finished in clear carbon look with orange detailing which looks amazing and will grab attention of people with varied tastes. The car focuses on track performance but still retains Agera’s everyday usability. It utilises advanced technology from the One:1 program and at the same time gets the features and functionality of previous Agera R and S models.
The 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now generates 1160 HP of peak power at 7800 RPM and 1280 Nm of peak torque at 4100 RPM. It produces 185 kgs more downforce than the Agera R at the speed of 250 km/hr. The weight has been reduced by 40 kgs over the R model and the Agera RS tips the scales at just 1395 kgs.
Koenigsegg has been building beautiful (and fast) cars and the upcoming hybrid, the Regera won’t be any different. Out of the world looks combined with mind-numbing performance figures and the possibility to drive the car daily is what makes the Swedish brand’s offerings so special. The attention to detail and the quality of materials used is top-notch. But that is obvious considering the high price tag and the segment of clients they cater to. We are waiting for the unveiling of the Regera because that is one car which will give tough competition to the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918.
