2024 Kia Sonet Facelift

Kia Sonet to get new low-end variants with more features on offer

Kia India is set to enhance its offerings in the competitive compact SUV segment with the introduction of two new variants for the Sonet. This move comes as part of the automaker’s strategy to cater to a wider range of customers and boost sales figures.

The upcoming variants, namely HTE (O) and HTK (O), will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. One of the major highlights of these additions is the inclusion of an electrically adjustable sunroof, a feature typically associated with higher trim levels. This marks a significant shift as customers will now have the option of enjoying the open-air experience in the lower variants of the Sonet.

In addition to the sunroof, the HTK (O) trim will boast additional features including LED-connected tail lamps, automatic climate control and a rear defogger.

Kia offers HTE and HTK currently as entry-level trims that retail for Rs. 7.99 lakhs and Rs. 8.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively. Expect the pricing to be slightly more premium with the addition of sunroof and a few more features.

Currently, the Kia Sonet lineup comprises seven variants, offering a diverse range of options to suit different preferences and budgets. Engine options include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, which can be paired with various transmission choices including manual, automatic, iMT and DCT gearboxes.

By introducing these new entry-level variants with more features on offer, Kia aims to attract a broader customer base and improve their market share in the competitive compact SUV segment.

The Kia Sonet competes with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Skoda is also developing a new compact SUV to compete in this segment, which will be launched by next year in India.
