Kia Seltos and Sonet variants updated, targeting wider audience
Kia Motors India has recently announced the launch of two new automatic variants of the Seltos, aiming to make automatic transmissions more accessible to a wider range of customers. The newly introduced Seltos HTK+ petrol CVT starts at a price point of Rs. 15.40 lakhs, while the diesel AT variant is priced slightly higher at Rs. 16.90 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom).
These automatic options were previously available only on the higher HTX trim but are now extended to the mid-spec HTK+ trim, providing customers with more choices and flexibility. The introduction of these variants brings down the entry point to the CVT and automatic gearbox by Rs. 1.18 lakhs and Rs. 1.28 lakhs respectively, making them more affordable for potential buyers.
In addition to expanding the availability of automatic transmissions, Kia has also enhanced the features of the HTK+ trim, which the company identifies as one of the most popular variants of the Seltos. These updates include the addition of a panoramic sunroof, drive and traction modes, paddle shifters, LED connected tail lamps, LED front map lamps and interior LED reading lamps. Moreover, the trim now boasts a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel and a new exterior paint option – Aurora Black Pearl.
Beyond the HTK+ trim, Kia has incorporated new features across other trims as well. The top-end HTX, HTX+, GT Line and X Line variants now come equipped with an auto up/down function for all four windows. Meanwhile, the lower-spec HTK trim receives LED DRLs, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, remote engine start/stop and LED connected tail lamps. The base HTE trim also sees an upgrade with the addition of five new exterior colour options – Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, Intense Red, Pewter Olive and Imperial Blue.
The price range for the Kia Seltos now spans from Rs. 10.90 lakhs to Rs. 20.35 lakhs. The Seltos continues to be a strong contender in the market, competing against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq among others.
Kia has also introduced two new trims to the Sonet lineup, aiming to enhance the value proposition for prospective buyers. With the HTE(O) and HTK(O) variants, the Korean automaker is strategically expanding its offering by providing premium features at a more accessible price point.
One of the standout additions to these variants is the inclusion of a sunroof, a feature previously reserved for higher-end models. By bringing this feature down to the entry-level trims, Kia is catering to the growing demand for sunroofs among Indian consumers. Additionally, the HTK(O) trim boasts automatic climate control and connected tail lamps.
Despite these notable additions, these new variants do not offer automatic gearbox options, as they are positioned as entry-level choices.
