Kia Seltos based 7-seater SUV spied testing in India for the first time. While reports suggest it’s their new MPV to rival Maruti XL6, we believe it is the Hyundai Alcazar’s cousin under Kia branding.
While the front profile image of the test mule looks distorted and doesn’t give you any idea about the dimensions, it is the side profile image which reveals very similar proportions as seen on the Hyundai Alcazar.
While the Kia Seltos 7-Seater test mule spied here is heavily camouflaged, you can notice the high roofline that extends all the way to the rear for adequate headroom for the third row of seats.
The interior is expected to share a lot of elements and features from the Kia Seltos. To differentiate the more premium 3-row SUV Kia might throw in more features.
The 7-seater version is codenamed Kia KY and is based on the same platform as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. We can expect it to share the same engine options and seating options (6-seater & 7-seater) as the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar.
A 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor is likely to be on offer along with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both the engines might get automatic and manual transmission options.
It is expected to make its global debut later this year followed by the market launch in 2022.
