Kia PV5 Unveils The PV5 Passenger & Cargo Models Ahead Of Their Scheduled Debut On February 27th

Kia has unveiled the PV5 passenger and cargo designs ahead of their scheduled debut on February 27th. It is the first car in the brand’s lineup based on the PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicles) Platform. It is targeted towards the private and commercial sectors, so let’s have a closer look.

Styling

The Kia PV5 will come in two body styles: Passenger and Cargo. Both of the versions are based on the same platform, but the latter will not feature rear seats for increased luggage space. The Kia PV5 Passenger, being an option for businesses, sports a design which has clean lines and a futuristic design. In the front, there are LED lighting strips which double up as turn signals and below is the main headlight.

The charging port is situated in the centre of the front, with the front camera above and the radar sensor below. The sides have plastic cladding below, which helps to give durability but also reduces costs. There are tall side mirrors with a large glass area. There are also blacked-out pillars, a bonnet and the upper half of the fenders. The PV5 Passenger gets a tailgate at the back, whereas dual opening doors on the PV5 Cargo version.

Interior

Kia has revealed the dashboard design in terms of the interior. However, the rest of the interior hasn’t been revealed as of now. There are separate screens for the multi-information display and the infotainment, a rarity in today’s market. There are also sizeable grab handles on the A-pillars to ease entry and exit.

Outlook

The Kia PV5 will compete, most notably, with the Volkswagen ID Buzz. It remains to be seen whether Kia will launch the PV5 in India or not. Commercial Vans are a sector which has the potential but aspects like pricing and specifications will need to be revealed to determine how good the PV5 really will be.
