Kia K3 will be offered in three engine options

Kia has revealed their new K3 sedan. It comes with the latest design DNA of the carmaker and will be offered in three petrol engine options. We believe Kia should introduce the K3 as their first sedan in the Indian market.

The Kia K3 looks quite sporty and aggressive following the new family look. It gets a sleek grille up front with the typical Tiger Nose grille. The headlamps are well integrated into the grille design. It has a big set of LED DRLs that emerge from the headlights and drops down towards the bumper. The same DRL setup will be seen on the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift that we spotted recently.

The side profile gets very sporty looking alloys with diamond cut effect. Unlike the Hyundai Verna, the Kia K3 has a smooth looking side profile with no cuts and creases. The roofline is steeply raked and merges smoothly into the boot section. While there are no images of the production version’s rear profile, the sketch reveals a sleek design with connecting tail lamps that might remind you of some Volvo sedans.

The interior gets a two-spoke steering wheel, which looks much better than the odd-looking unit seen on the new Hyundai Verna. It comes with a curved dual screen setup which gets 4.2-inch digital cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The dashboard has a simple layered design and comes with a clean look, thanks to the minimal usage of buttons.

It comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two-zone touch automatic climate control, customisable ambient lighting offering up to 64 different colours, dedicated air vents for rear passengers, etc.

In terms of safety it comes with six airbags, ABS braking system and ESC electronic stability program as standard. ADAS features include Front Collision Avoidance (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) and Driving Attention Warning (DAW).

Kia is offering the K3 in multiple petrol engine options, there is no diesel engine on offer. It comes with a 1.6-litre NA petrol producing 123 PS, mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. GT Line comes with 2.0-litre petrol producing 152 PS, mated to a 6-speed AT. Kia will also introduce a 1.4-litre engine for some of the international markets.

Now we know that the Kia K3 is not heading to India as the sedan space is dwindling with each passing day in our country. However, the recent influx of some new entrants have made the segment quite exciting and competitive. If Kia introduces the K3 as their first sedan for the Indian market, it will grab a lot of attention.

If launched in India, it will compete with a wide range of sedans including Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Maruti Ciaz.
