Kia will commence bookings for its first-all electric crossover EV6 on 26th May and the car will be imported as a CBU
Kia EV6 bookings are stated to commence from 26th May and owing to the CBU route, we will be the getting the same internationally sold car although what powertrains will be on offer are still not confirmed yet.
Following its launch, Kia will also launch another affordable electric SUV e-Niro before its much-awaited entry-level locally manufactured electric SUV hits our shores by 2025. Kia’s current roadmap reveals 30 percent of the 4 million target sales it aims by 2030 to be from EVs.
Based on Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV6 is added with new age technology and features including LED lighting, digital screens (there are 2 12.3-inch displays), augmented reality head up display, smartphone connectivity, and several safety goodies including ADAS.
Upon launch, the Kia EV6 is likely to be offered in 4 variants – Air, Earth, Light, and Water. In the global arena, the electric crossover comes with the options of a 58 kWh battery and a 77.4 kWh pack.
But in India, Kia is expected to launch the EV6 in India with the bigger battery and a single motor that makes 225 HP and 350 Nm driving the rear wheels. This variant will come with a claimed range of 528 km in the combined cycle or 739 km in the city. It will have a top speed of 183 km/hr and would do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 7.3 seconds.
