Kia Carens facelift to get revised exterior styling and more features
Kia Carens facelift test mule has been spotted in India for the first time. Known for its strong presence in the MPV segment, the Carens is ready for a design refresh, though there’s speculation it could also be a test mule for a potential Carens EV.
Following in the footsteps of recent updates to the Seltos and Sonet, the Carens facelift is expected to feature significant exterior tweaks. The spied test mule reveal a revamped tail light design with C-shaped configuration reminiscent of its other updated siblings. This new design is likely to be connected by an LED bar, marketed as ‘Star Map’ LED tail lights, aligning with Kia’s recent design trends.
The front and rear bumpers, along with the headlights are anticipated to undergo redesigns. The test mule spotted in South Korea appeared to be a base or mid-spec variant, equipped with a single-pod halogen headlight, suggesting that higher variants might come with LED lights. New alloy wheels are also expected to be part of the facelift.
Inside, the Carens facelift might come with several enhancements aimed at improving the user experience. Key among these updates could be the addition of a panoramic sunroof and dual 10.25-inch horizontal screens on the dashboard. The inclusion of an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite could be a primary highlight, potentially offering Level 1 or Level 2 driver assistance systems.
Despite these design and feature updates, the powertrains are likely to remain unchanged. The Carens facelift is expected to continue with the existing engine options. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 113 BHP and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 158 BHP and 253 Nm, available with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. A 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 113 BHP and 250 Nm, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and a 6-speed torque converter.
The facelifted Carens could make its debut around the festive season or early 2025, potentially with a slight price increase reflecting the new features and design improvements. While the sighting of the Carens facelift has generated considerable excitement, there remains a small possibility that Kia is testing a Carens EV variant.
