Kia will be launching an updated version of its popular Carens MPV in the Indian market by mid-2025. The Carens will get a redesigned exterior with visual elements such as revamped headlamps, fresh alloy wheels, and restyled taillights, giving the MPV a more contemporary look.
It is likely that Kia will retain the existing engine lineup for the facelifted Carens. This means that the updated MPV will continue to offer a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
The addition of new features and potential improvements in material quality could lead to a price increase for the facelifted Carens. Kia is likely to introduce a premium price for the facelifted model, particularly for higher-end trims equipped with the advanced ADAS suite.
Once Kia launches the updated Carens, the vehicle will face competition in the competitive MPV segment in India. It will compete with established rivals such as the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Toyota Rumion. The Carens will also compete with popular 7-seater SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar & MG Hector Plus.
In addition to the facelifted Carens, Kia is also developing a fully electric version of the MPV, codenamed KY-EV, specifically for the Indian market. The launch of the Carens facelift and the upcoming Carens EV are expected to strengthen Kia’s position in the Indian car market.
