Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R local assembly likely, prices to come down by almost Rs. 5 lakhs.
Kawasaki is soon likely to start local assembly of its track-focused litre-class superbike, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. The good news is that prices for the bike are likely to come down drastically post that. The Ninja ZX-10R currently retails at Rs. 18.8 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) and post revision, prices are likely to be in the vicinity of Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom). That’s almost Rs. 5 lakhs cheaper!
If priced around Rs. 14 lakhs, the ZX-10R could become the most affordable 1000cc bike on sale in India, a claim currently held by the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. The Japanese automaker will assemble the Ninja ZX-10R at its Chakan facility using semi-knocked-down kits brought from Japan. The locally-assembled vehicle is likely to be launched by June 2018.
The motorcycle draws power from a 998cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 200 PS of power at a screaming 13,000 RPM and 113.5 Nm of torque at 11,500 RPM. The powertrain comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Last year, the company surprised us by introducing the Ninja 1000 at Rs. 9.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Ninja 1000 too was brought to India as semi-knocked-down kits and assembled locally.
