Kawasaki has launched the KRT edition of its middle-weight sportbike, the Ninja 650 at a price of Rs. 5.69 lakhs.
Kawasaki introduced the 2017 Ninja 650 in March this year shortly after it was displayed at the 2016 Intermot motorcycle show. As we already know, it was a thoroughly revised version of the Japanese full-faired motorcycle which offered a whole lot of improvements. The Ninja was available in two colours – lime green and black – at launch. Kawasaki has added a new colour option to the palette in the form of the Ninja 650 KRT edition.
The KRT edition gives the 650 a paint theme which is inspired from the trademark colours (lime green, grey and black) of the Kawasaki Racing Team. The icing on the cake is of course the price! The KRT edition is available at Rs. 5.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is the same as the price that the regular colours command. Expectedly, there are no mechanical changes to talk about.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 continues to draw power from a 649cc twin-cylinder engine that churns out 68 PS of power and 65.7 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, the liquid-cooled motor comes with a slipper clutch for assisting downshifts. Along with other measures, the use of a new lighter frame has allowed the 2017 Ninja 650 to shed 22 kgs of weight and improve low and mid-range performance.
Design of the 2017 Ninja 650 takes inspiration from the supersport ZX-10R and looks very sharp and appealing. Suspended via telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear, the Ninja 650 KRT edition gets similar braking hardware as the regular model. Braking is performed by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. ABS is part of standard equipment.
The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is already a great package made more attractive by the KRT paint job. It will rival the likes of the Honda CBR650F and Benelli TNT 600i. While bookings have already started, customers will be able to get their hands on their KRT beauties only by the end of this month.
