Japanese motorcycle makers are obsessed with attracting every last drop of power from their small capacity bikes. All these motorcycle manufacturers are active in the 150cc segment, offering low displacement machines with the soul of the flagship. Case in point is the Yamaha R15, which draws heavily from the Yamaha R1 and the Honda CBR150R, which again is a smaller version of Honda VFR 1200F. Now Kawasaki will certainly not stay behind and offers the Kawasaki Ninja 150RR, which is based on a similar formula as its rivals.
Kawasaki sells the Ninja 150RR in our neighbouring countries, offering it with a 148cc, 2-stroke engine. This Ninja 150RR is based on its elder siblings and looks the part. Although Bajaj Auto has shown little or no interest in bringing in more Kawasaki motorcycles in the country, we feel that this segment has alot of scope and the Ninja 150R could do quite well. Specially when you consider this 150cc Ninja produces 29 BHP of power! The 2-stroke engine helps in cost reduction and better sound, while people claim lower maintenance as well. What Bajaj could do is, it could plonk in their 200cc engine and offer the Ninja as a faired option in the performance segment. We are speculating too much here but who doesn’t want an affordable Ninja?
