Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX bookings open in India, deliveries commence in January 2025
Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 13.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new model succeeds the popular Ninja 1000SX and shares a similar design language with its predecessor. Bookings for the motorcycle are now open at a token amount of Rs. 50,000/-, with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2025.
Key Specifications and Features
The Ninja 1100SX is powered by a liquid-cooled 1099cc inline-four engine that generates 136 HP at 9000 RPM and 113 Nm of torque at 7600 RPM. Compared to the outgoing Ninja 1000SX, the new model has a slightly reduced power output (down by 6 HP) but gains an additional 2 Nm of torque. Kawasaki has optimised the bike for highway touring by lengthening its 5th and 6th gears, a change designed to lower engine RPM during cruising and improve fuel efficiency.
The chassis remains largely unchanged from the Ninja 1000SX, with one notable upgrade: a 10 mm larger rear disc brake. The electronics suite is also carried forward, featuring multiple power and riding modes, traction control, a bidirectional quick-shifter and cruise control.
Aimed at Touring Enthusiasts
The Ninja 1100SX builds on the legacy of the Ninja 1000SX, which was widely appreciated for its balance of litre-class performance and touring-friendly comfort. While the standard variant is the only version currently available in India, the international SE variant, equipped with Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes, has not yet been introduced to the Indian market.
Market Position and Competition
In terms of competition, the Ninja 1100SX occupies a unique position, with no direct rivals in the Indian market. Its closest competitor, Triumph’s road-oriented Tiger 900 GT, is priced slightly higher at Rs. 13.95 lakhs.
Kawasaki India’s decision to maintain a competitive price point for the Ninja 1100SX, coupled with its robust feature set and improved touring capabilities, is likely to appeal to enthusiasts looking for a high-performance, comfortable sports tourer.
